The Importance of The Permit Technician in the Building Permit Process

One of the things I did with our permit tech that worked really well was provided her photos of the typical stages of construction we do inspections at. Each photo had a text box saying what was just completed and what would be installed immediately after the inspection.

We almost had no failed inspections for it not being ready after that. She would go through the list of items when someone (not our normal contractors) called for an inspection to make sure that everything was done and tell them to remove the stuff that can't be there yet. In some cases, a do-it-yourselfer would come in and go over the photos with her and take copies home with them.

Sent out with the hard copy of every permit. Inspectors are encouraged to send it out with the digital permit, esp. for new contractors or DIY projects.
