I am about to take the 2009 Commercial Energy Exam. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what focus on, suggestions etc. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Tab the codebook, and get to know the Index well.

Lighting allowances - be sure you can figure them.

Study very hard on the existing building / alteration provisions.

And as with all the ICC exams - know where the Tables are in the code you're testing on, and how to properly use them.

Good luck. And Welcome to the forum.

Read the questions carefully, many items look at the exceptions not the obvious to see that you look closely at the codes and the stem, key and distractors. The wrong answers, distractors, are intended to look appealing or are led to by common math errors.
