For Electric Traction (MRL) elevators:
Is anyone aware of code requirements (in addition to manufacturer's requirements) for conditioning the hoistway of electric traction elevators? Manufacturer's provide a vary broad range of allowable operating temperatures for the hoistway. With regards to electric traction; I've heard it said that since the machine is in the hoistway that it must be conditioned like a machine room. It makes sense, but is the requirement actually written down in black and white somewhere?
My basis of design product says the hoistway must be kept between 32 and 122 degrees, seems like this should be easy to accomplish with minimal conditioning.
