Grouted Penetrations

The building code (Chapter 7) allows full thickness grout or mortar for 6" max pipe penetrations through concrete or masonry walls in order to maintain the fire rating. It appears that a UL design is NOT required: is that correct?
 
That is correct. If you comply with the prescriptive method in the code, then a tested assembly is not required.
