    Veterans Day

My career is over BTW. Just trying to hold on for now. Some days are better than others. Some days I feel fine. Weird.

    Veterans Day

I just went on disability. See my last post. Full disability is boring but I am slipping a little bit. I am open to answer answer any question especially for you!

    Veterans Day

We all are proud. I am still hanging in there. I finally had to go out on permanent disability. Waiting on all the paper work while some is completed. I am lucky that my wife works and can pick up insurance eventually. My hand has gone partially numb and stuff like that, but I am alive 19...

Maybe you could use your architecture skills and become a plan reviewer.

We do the same procedure as Frank. Works well for us.

BIG Changes to ICC CEU Requirements

They will drive away membership from states that only require an initial test from the ICC. I have only maintained my ICC certs in case I move to another state. They are not required to work here as a Government employee. Sounds like someone is getting a little big for the hen house.

    Basement Egress

The language in R310 has not changed in 2012. Basements not meeting the exception for the 200 sqft mechanical room must have two ways out. Vertical egress (stairs) and a door or an EERO at basement level. In addition, every bedroom must have an EERO.

need a prayer if your able

......and North Star is correct in that private messages usually kick an alert to my email which means I get faster notifications when people want to talk. Thank you North Star, JAR, and everyone else who has encouraged me. I even got a hair cut a few weeks back. Good night.

need a prayer if your able

The best way to contemplate Palm Sunday is to go fishing with my daughters and look forward to Easter. We are down many inspector positions at the moment and that means that I am running like a Thoroughbred at a donkey race. My MRI schedule has been pushed back because I seem to be reacting...

    Refusing inspection

In some cases you can't inspect a property. That fourth amendment is something that needs to be taken very seriously. Sometimes you just have to leave the property alone or try to gain access through other means.

Do basement walls fall under Section R611?

The blocking is usually in the floor system above interior braced walls or sometimes above bearing walls. Basements usually only have extra wall bracing in areas that are out of the ground like a walk out basement on a sloped lot.

    Basement Egress through Garage

Yes. Two means of egress from a basement (vertical and horizontal) unless the basement only houses a 200 or less sqft mechanical room. You need vertical egress (stairs) and horizontal (door to the outside, or window/EERO that meets the EERO requirements. Could be a window well depending on lot...

    building dept software

Our software is custom and very pricey IMO. Also, as software gets older it becomes less and less compatible with new computers and servers. Something to consider before dropping a bucket of money on the next best thing.

    Openable windows screwed closed

If they have not increased the hazard then I do see where the big deal is. The windows were and are still inoperable. As stated earlier, the fire department will axe right through them if need be. I don't really know where the FD complaint has legs. Most importantly, what does your boss say?

    OSHA fines for electrical violations

Some of the insurance safety inspectors are even worse. We had one with a belt buckle that was so big it would knock you off of the four legged ladders!

multiple Business & Professions Code violations

The home owner ca certainly pull his own permit and hire who he wants to do the work as a subcontractor. The legality at least here falls with the fact that an unlicensed subcontractor can only do a little bit of the work due to tax limits. Not a building code issue however.

need a prayer if your able

Had another MRI this morning and the tumor is still tiny. It has been two months since my last scan and it has not changed in size. This is a good thing. Went back to work a month ago and am off the government payroll (disability). Feeling about 80% +/-. Thanks again for all of the support and...

Clothes dryer duct - manufacturer instructions vs. code

.....or you can read Mtlogcabin's code sections since I clearly did not. (They say the same thing....14' for air connectors.) sorry.
