    Riser room Knox box ?

Is it possible this building was just inspected and there was no KB and the Fire Marshall just caught this while doing an annual inspection? Need some more information. My thought process is: The Fire Official reviews the plans and comments on the location of the KB at review stage. The...

    Riser room Knox box ?

My assumption was that this is where the FM expects to see the Knox box, is it clear where the Knox box should be located? or is that left up to the FM or FO? Our ordinance requires one where the Fire Official wants it, not where any Fire Marshall wants it. These are to different positions in a...

    Riser room Knox box ?

That's not the front or back door of the building, he said a riser room door that has no lock. Do firefighters enter the building from other doors, lets say the front of the building. Yes being a little dramatic using their AXE, but sometimes that's how they might get in, if theirs no key. I...

    Riser room Knox box ?

Lipets, So the Fire Marshal will only be allowed in the riser room? When there's a fire or they see smoke, his firefighters will just use their special key to get in, they'll use their AXE! And add the cost of boarding up the door. 2021 IFC Section 506.1

    Lav Access

The wall mount trash compartment appears to be in the turning space! Is the paper towel dispenser missing the general reach of maximum 48" off the FF? Shouldn't the trash receptacle be 27-inches off the FF for a cane detection and not beyond 4-inches from the wall?

I would think someone from hell would ask the forum some AC questions? Those answers are free.

Shouldn't my architect know the building use codes and not need to call zoning?

I use to require stamped, signed and dated on paper plans. Now I'm asked if it can be done electronically. Any issues with receiving the stamped designs electronically?

Shouldn't my architect know the building use codes and not need to call zoning?

90% of the time it's the owner, buyer or seller calling me, not the Architect. The Architect's will on occasion call and ask what codes we are on? After I receive the plans for review, I usually have questions for the Architect. How the Architect gets paid is between his client and him/her.

    Old codes

I looked in the 1975 CABO and did not find the word "Deck" or "Platforms" in the index, however the 1993 CABO section 412.4 listed "platforms". I believe the word "platform" is the prior term used for "Deck". Section 412.4.1 uses the 30-inch rule above a main floor which may have or may not...

    How to pass building inspection?

Just sent my inspector out to do a foundation wall inspection, told him to take the paper plans incase they don't have the plans on site. He came back and reported that the job wasn't ready and that the contractor is AWOL. Said they left out TWO egress window bucks and the foundation anchors...

    How to pass building inspection?

We like to see the plans on site, this is becoming more and more difficult with everyone wanting to go paperless, so contractor or trade with his I-pad, phone or laptop with plans should be available.

    How to pass building inspection?

I stepped on a few nails over the years while looking up at rafters and once tripped over a skilsaw that was under some shingle wrappers. It's amazing what is left behind on a job site. A cup of mountain dew on a top plate, at least I think it was mountain dew? It's a jungle.

    The Failure of Bluebeam

Jar, please don't taser me bro!, I'm not a big fan of becoming all paperless. I hope that the applicant didn't have to wait on his review and that you were able to provide the services needed so that the project could move forward without delay. I know you worked it out! Right? XoXoXo

What about a trashy job site that makes it hard to do the inspection? Do you expect a clean site when doing an inspection? Will you walk if trashy?

    How to pass building inspection?

I once went on an inspection and the GC was walking around telling guys/gals to do this and that, I had to finally ask is the space ready for inspection? It felt like one of those CSI shows where Vinney Barso was interviewing a guy cutting up fish, the dude wouldn't stop moving and talking, to...
