State Adopted Code and NFPA Standards

I have a reference in the 2018 IFC (adopted by the state in which I reside) to Integrated Testing and NFPA 4. Chapter 80 of the 2018 IFC specifically references NFPA 4. NFPA 4 references NFPA 3, however, NFPA 3 is not referenced in the 2018 IFC, nor is it referenced in our local municipality...

Almost to MCP, need E3 and F3

Something else I did, with every code book I had (have), was highlight the section headings, and then the exceptions in a different color. Every page of every book. You want to get familiar with a code? Take a highlighter to it and go a page at a time. You'll know where stuff is when you're...

Heads up for the group: ICC is not offering the review session for PRONTO. The website reads: Eligibility for Review Sessions: For all candidates, you must be within 10 points of the minimum passing score of your exam. For Certification Exam Candidates: You must schedule your review session...

    New CBO exams

Well I finally passed my building codes and standards test. What a relief. I highly recommend the PRONTO testing. I failed once at PearsonVue and failed one pronto test. So took it three times total. That completes my CBO testing journey. It's been a long one!

    New CBO exams

I'm signing up for end of January. I think England Training really misses the boat on the Building Codes and Standards Practice Quiz.. Unfortunately, they are the only company that's offering economical study material (whats the saying "you get what you pay for..). I'm going to switch it up and...

    New CBO exams

Took Building Codes and Standards two weeks ago..Failed. Wasn't even close. Back to the drawing board. There were some pretty in depth electrical questions I was not prepared for. Also, at least 5 questions on the test that the study exams never came close to touching on. May have to utilize a...

    Fire inspection software

Yes! We use the heck out of it and it works awesome. You can track everything (fire protection systems, inspection dates and re-inspect dates, make custom inspection sheets) If anyone wants more info just PM me. It would be quicker to explain details over the phone. \

    New CBO exams

Yes! First off, Sorry for the late reply, i'm in the middle of studying for my Management module and have neglected the forum. The best tip I can give you is to use a study guide that mimics the actual test. I've used ICC Campus and was severely disappointed. I didn't feel that it prepped me...

    dry pipe systems and nitrogen

PROS: next to NO moisture, thus saving time and money and loss of life safety systems from repair from corrosion. #1 reason for a dry system needing repair (besides forgetting to drain low point drains and thus freezing) is due to corrosion causing pin hole leaks. CONS: It's expensive. Upwards...

    Icc sprinkler/ fire alarm certs

Thought about doing the Inspector sets. I feel like the plans examiner ones are redundant to fire plans examiner (comes across as a money grab). Inspector set interests me tho. You?

    Cooking Operations Under Tents (Temporary)

One of the tents that we are dealing with is open on all sides, maybe 1,000 sq st, 6 deep fryers, 15 foot tall ceiling. Class K and ABC extinguishers in place. One of the others is closed on 3 sides grills and deep fryers. Same sq ft and extinguishers.

    Cooking Operations Under Tents (Temporary)

Thank you for your replies. Specifically, I'm looking at 3104.15.1, maybe I'm interpreting that wrong. Also, in the commentary it notes that no portion of Ch. 31 exempts hood and suppression requirements. 3104.15.1 Installation. Heating or cooking equipment, tanks, piping, hoses, fittings...

    Cooking Operations Under Tents (Temporary)

Hello. Looking for some input regarding cooking under tents at a carnival or fair. This fall, we had a food vendor who set up a griddle outside of his type 1 hood within his trailer. He was cooking meats and vegetables on it (grease laden vapor at a commercial rate). After informing him of the...
