    Good Morning Tom!

Has anyone ever heard of this before?

Currently using copper to treat algae bloom in reservoirs in our area. I say increase the usage!

    electronic touch bar

Unlocking the door with a motion sensor is also a common means of unlocking the door and would be best used for a handicapped person (quad in a motorized wheelchair). What you give up is security though, in that anyone passing by or waiting in the sensors range is unlocking the door. The...

    electronic touch bar

Here is the latest posted bulletin about occupancy usage and IBC codes. http://www.securitron.com/Other/Securitron/Documents/New_IBC-IFC_Code_Language.pdf UL/CUL listings are on their site as well.

    electronic touch bar

The mag locks release by sensing a capacitance discharge. Yes clothing, gloves, etc. will interfere hence the back up release switch on the Securitron bar near the hinge end and depending on the jurisdiction a wall mounted kill switch - or not.

    electronic touch bar

For your further consideration. I recommend no mag locks on exterior doors but on inside vestibule doors with a seperate power disconnect in case of electronics failure in addition to the built in switch on the panic bar...

ashrae climate zones used to be 5 before changing to 8?

Time to make new engineering connections between your supplier and the manufacturer- unless they are off shore. Even then there is still hope.

ashrae climate zones used to be 5 before changing to 8?

In 1941 there were no zones. The recommendation at that time was to use information from the closest recording weather station available.

    Motion Sensor with Electric Strike

The code says the door(s) have to "unlock" which is different than "unlatch".

As simple as opening your window

Just think- no more jumpers! A time savings for the police department:)

    You Call It

"He was unlicensed" I know that in California that means the home owner owes nothing- illegal is illegal- no sympathy from the Judge!

Converting Fire Exit Hardware to Electric control and maintaining rating

LBR is used to meet an accessibility standard (which one?) That would be the 2010 ADA - 20 year revision update.

Hearing Aid Issue - new one for me

That depends on the exact job that the person is doing. Otherwise said, not enough information to make a call and I don't play an AHJ or Judge on TV either:smile:

Hearing Aid Issue - new one for me

That is the beauty of the ADA. It doesn't have to make sense. The business owner has to show that he addressed the problem to the best of his ability bearing the costs (~within reason~). Some hardwire systems will ping the hardwire network every few seconds only discernible in the quietest of...

Hearing Aid Issue - new one for me

First, verify it is the fire alarm system and not a burglar alarm system or other interference. Can the employee be moved to a different location? Does the employee needs the hearing aids for work purposes? Are other options workable (talk to text)? Next step, can installing/service company...

how to build a fire station

I guess that the weather never reaches below a freezing point to cause the rocks to fracture and fall and no erosion either!

Converting Fire Exit Hardware to Electric control and maintaining rating

Less Bottom Rod LBR option is available, using a spring loaded auxiliary latch bolt installed in the lower door edge. When exposed to heat the auxiliary latch bolt releases, keeping the doors in alignment and closed during a fire. UL listed 3 hours on hollow metal doors double egress, 90 minute...

Converting Fire Exit Hardware to Electric control and maintaining rating

Agree with cda to ask SDC if it installs the hardware in the device if ALL the ratings are met. Builder Bob's point is well taken also that if the doors are going to be fire rated and be "LBR" (less bottom rod) then thermal bolt(s) are needed and the door should be shipped and prepped that way...

    Duct Smoke Detector not Tripping

"we can't get the minimum distance downstream from a tee to install the duct detector. " There is a reason for that minimum distance.

Too long ago to remember. I will have to ask the business owner when I see him next.

Permit expired and project abandoned. What next?

Of the two tire fires here, one fire here was reportedly started with kids playing with railroad flares. That particular one was at a factory that cuts the tires to make floor mats, dock bumpers, etc. Anyways the water needs to be collected as the fire is being fought to prevent environmental...
