How do you make this compliant? [see photo]

Is the Insulation require? In a 1A would it need to be there or is the block it's self sufficient?

No sill plates at the top of CMU for the attachment of trusses

I believe it is complaint. You have the tie downs & the felt gives the barrier between the two so it doesn't need to be pressure treated.

What Do You Call The Rebar Around a Vertical Steel Column?

Diagonal bars/hair pins/pins/re-entry bars, I have heard all of these... The slab must need to be structurally in volve in that picture with the amount of reinforcement - rem-mesh, rebar & all those pins.

Resealing & Relining Parking Lots with Accessible Parking Spaces

The places I have worked would require the actually accessible spaces/ramps/sidewalk to the door to be either paved or concrete & meet slope requirements. the rest of the parking lot could be left gravel. And generally no on spending the 20% somewhere else. The agreement on that is you must be...

New Construction in Pennsylvania - Inspected and Signed Off

:D :mad:Yep and what's crazy is they are serious. I Get "where is that in the code book?". My reply is let me see you code book & I'll show you. "I Don't have one." Well, you should buy 1 and maybe read it too. Here State law requires them to have one on site. I'm probably the only person to...

Should the IRC/IBC Require Fire Extinguishers in Dwelling Units in the Absence of IFC Adoption

We only require them for short term rentals/B&B's. As they are now a business and also require annual insp. from FD

    Rafters 4 feet on center

This is the way I understand it. Also have done it this way. It was also an engineered design. 1 1/2" sheathing is heavy and not much fun to carry on a roof with a slight breeze.

    Deck to 2nd story overhang

    This would be my answer;

    Mezzanine MOE....again

If they have room to use and move the movable stairs, they CAN build a permanent one and use complaint guards.

Are accessible bathrooms required in "U" occupancy?

Not sure why they want to do that. Do they not have room for a rest room & the kitchen? Not sure why they CAN"T have restroom. Am I missing something. There are a lot of R1 with kitchen. Also same a Efficiency:confused:.

    CBO 3 part exam

I went to Construction Exam Center in Lakewood, CO (Denver) for my exam prep. They have a good system to prepare you. Passed all three exams as of the July 1st.

    Exiting from Private Dining Patio

I would be concerned with no exits from the patio as you are already out of the building. To re-enter doesn't make good sense to me. As for limiting people from outside the patio, a screen/fence of some sort and exit only hardware on the gate/door.

1-hour flat roof overhang detail - minimal roof thickness desired

I have seen a cement board for the underside used also.

    Measuring risers at thresholds

I try to fall back to the IBC for definitions if not in IRC. That said my opinion is the if there is not a landing on the outside of the door then it must open in with a couple of exceptions. Just my 2 cents.

    Relocatable buildings

Another way to say it is when they moved it, all work is new, just like remodeling a building the new WORK required to meet the new code. Footing, piers, drainage, grading, sidewalks, entrances, parking etc.
  22. my250r11

    Relocatable buildings

IMHO they need to be complaint with ANSI A117. Here we have local ordinance that any structure to be in place for more than 30 days is not considered temporary. Beyond that, it is being move to a new site and there fore should meet all requirements for new construction, period end of story...

How far outside the 'work area' do we need to upgrade the fire rating of corridor walls?

It's not a corridor if not rated, it is just a hallway. All CORIDORS are rated assemblies. Just like in other areas of the code, once given a certain level of protection it must be maintained thru the exit discharge. JMHO

    Rebar cages

As long as the square hole has 3" clearance to earth from rebar at all points and the square is equal to or greater than required it most likely will be fine. As others have said the depth is to shallow. But you did say the RDP is working on that.

    Panic hardware

This is the way I understand it. Once you provide a certain level of protection, you must maintain it. So yes, all doors in the egress path should have panic hardware.
