BIG Changes to ICC CEU Requirements

Sounds like another back room deal to me. Why not ask first instead of shooting from the hip, ask the members what they think will work explain it to us first before saying we are going to do this and this is how it will work. We think ICC is turning back to its membership driven roots and then...

    Doctors office & ada

2012 UIBC 1109.3 5% but not less than 1, it is a theme that is through the Accessible codes we enforce, like the parking, it does not require all parking spaces to be accessible but a percentage of them. Your scenario is the same thing, at least one (1) of the six would have to be accessible.

Olympia, WA council votes 6-1 for sprinklers in homes

I hope not Terri. We got the state to keep it in the appendix for another code cycle, I hope it stays there.

    Your Career

I take the training and the pay for the certifications when covered by my jurisdiction, I look at it as part of my compensation package. I don't have long range disability except for worker comp so this is one of the little things that help make up for it. Working for the jurisdiction use to be...

Olympia, WA council votes 6-1 for sprinklers in homes

Tom, do you think this is a good thing or another way politicians are trying to control our personal castles? I personally like sprinkler systems but I want to choose if I put them in my own home not be mandated to do it.

    International Association of Building Officials

I for one am very glad to see this. I think it is a step in the right direction, but support is needed to succeed. It would be nice to have an organization that supported us as Building Officials like the IAFF supports it Fire Fighter members. We don't have the support or Organization until now. :)

How does your membership in Proffesional Code Orginazations benifit your Jurisdiction

What a mouth full, but we have all been there. Justify not only to the bean counters but the politicians why you go to those code development meetings. What benefit to your jurisdiction can be shown? The committee's you sit on regarding those different issues that confront you in the application...

Good convincing arguments against Residential Fire Sprinkleres

All the talk and articles I have seen was in support for sprinkler systems in homes. I did find a article developed in 2008 from a company called Fire Smarts, LLC that made a statement that really sounded home the Fire Sprinkler issue for me. They said that in 2007 the residential fire sprinkler...

    Electronic application of the Codes

I deal with several different levels of code users. It would be nice to be able to cut and paste different codes into the body of a document that you are developing. For instance, I am trying to put together a document for a state level seismic committee that shows how the Building code defines...

The ICCF - Did you know?

Re: The ICCF - Did you know? It is truly a sorry affair to see ICC loosing its valued members by being slowly turned into a "for profit business". They say that they are member driven, but when you call ICC they ask you what business you represent not what jurisdiction do you represent. They...
