I am trying to find any specific regulations for such items as park benches, grills and similar items that will be installed in our municipal park land. Where would this fall under ANSI - A117.1-2003 or is there another document I should be looking for. Thanks

Inspector 102,

Since you are applying the 2003 Edition of the ICC/ANSI A117.1 Standard, you would

look in Ch. 4 - Accessible Routes and Ch. 5 - General Site and Building Elements for the

applicable sections for your city parks. Other chapters might also apply if your parks

have public restrooms, public drinking water fountains, etc.

Also, look in Ch. 10 - Recreation Facilities, in the 2010 Edition of the A.D.A.- S.A.D.

The 2010 Edition of the A.D.A. - S.A.D. applies even if you do not have or apply

the 2003 Edition of the ICC/ANSI A117.1 Standard. As you probably already know,

the A.D.A. - S.A.D. is a federal requirement that supercedes any municipal requirement.

They overlap in their scoping requirements, in most chapters and applications.
