Tied to the studs with wall ties. Not adhered. Is the brick adhered veneer or anchored veneer? i.e. is it stuck to the exterior wall or is it self-supporting and tied to the exterior framed wall?
Thanks!Building Code of the Texas IHB (2015 IBC) [BS] 1405.10.1.3 Clearances
On exterior stud walls, adhered masonry veneer shall be installed not less than 4 inches (102 mm) above the earth, or not less than 2 inches (51 mm) above paved areas, or not less than 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) above exterior walking surfaces that are supported by the same foundation that supports the exterior wall.
Well, that was premature. that citation applies only to adhered. This is brick veneer that is anchored with wall ties to the studs. Thanks!
