I was asked this question: "I heard there were big changes to the 2018 IRC regarding decay resistance of decks. Can you explain?" This is a pretty big and controversial issue right now between the 2018 IRC and the 2016 AWPA book of standards. Heck...even ICC ES is part of the mess. I made this video to answer the question in the best way I can...with details and evidence. I do have to layout current codes before discussing the changes and where the changes occurred. It's a long video, but hopefully not boring. Sorry...at times I talk too long over a static screen, but that's because this video was a quick production from a live class I taught last year on the subject.
