We're proposing a wood assembly of exterior egress balconies in a small multi-family (R-2) occupancy. We want the egress balcony to be wood plank decking over exposed wood framing. However we're not sure if that is permitted for type VA (NFPA 13r); the floor construction, including secondary members, needs to be 1 hour rated per table 602. The project has to comply with CBC 2019.
