I am working on an existing pole barn (post-frame) structure remodel where a portion of the space is classified as A-3 assembly for the lounge/ light kitchen area, and A-5 assembly for the remaining covered pavilion open air area. I am being asked to provide fire separation information between the two areas. Does anyone know what is required? 1 hour, (2) layers of 5/8" type x? I typically work in residential, so this is new territory! Thank you.

Need a whole lot more information...

Code adopted, construction type, sprinklers, building area, fire areas, etc.

Very difficult to discern why the fire rated wall is needed, thus impossible to determine the requisite fire rating or type of fire-rated wall assembly that is required.

Need more info needed, but my guess is 1029.1.1.1 may be applicable.
