Anybody else make one? Mine is to avoid being drawn into stupid, non productive arguements. So far, I've been challenged (and its January 5).. it might be a long year!

If you are successful in your resolution - if you find the formula - you need to write a book. I thought being engaged in stupid, non-productive arguments was one of our primary job descriptions!

Non-work related and work related.

My non-work related resolution is to be a better husband to my wife She's been gone visiting family for 3 weeks and I didn't know how much I missed her until I did. I have several ideas in the works on how to show her how much I appreciate her.

Work related isn't really me as much as it's the rookie inspector that they have me 'teaching' (when it gets to the point that they have ME teaching someone, you know they have reached the bottom of the barrel and are scrapping). I asked the rookie (who is from the Philippines) if he had made a New Years Resolution and he said, "Yes, I'm going

to be more assertive." Guess that means he will FINALLY talk out loud to the contractors. I can't/don't blame the guy, he's pretty unsure of what his job consists of and how much authority he has - and I'd rather have him that way rather than the 'I know everything, listen to me' type of inspector. But he's pretty quiet and soft-spoken, slowly I'm trying to teach him how to go about finding the information that you need - as well as telling him/showing him WHAT information he needs to find out. Rookies, we were all this green once upon a time; weren't we???
