Sometimes the person doing the door documentation is confronted with a dilemma. Electrical/security documentation will often compromise personal safety of those who need to escape at any time for any reason. Confronted with each dilemma, I would send very simple cartoons to the Australian Building Core Board with a covering letter. I did not ever receive a reply. The attached image described escape provisions for all fire isolated stairs in a deep Melbourne carpark covering a city block under four enormous towers.

So deep means a couple of floors underground? And the concern was flooding? Nice sketch.
