platform lifts at stages

Ran into this yesterday:
lift comes with an internal ramp that descends into the 5 x 5 manuvering space 8" when door opens, this to allow for pitless install, can it do so? (concern is with regards to steepness of ramp 1.44" rise in 8"}
If a vestibule with a door is there, must the clear space extend beyond the open door swing of the lift to prevent being caught in the vestibule?

Note the ramp (about 8" x 1.44" rise) extending off the platform and overlapping the
min. 5' x 5' clear floor area. There appears to be an exception in the code allowing this.
Consider if it was installed in an 5' deep alcove with a door and the platform door
attempted to close before the WC user had cleared the vestibule, or if having entered
the vestibule wouldn't the opening door hit the users chair. Should not the length of
the alcove be 60" (+) the length of the platform door ?

in a perfect world yes, but Not all floors allow for this, especially retrofits. Thats why I asked.
