Removing a door from existing two doors in a series

By code, we need 48" between two doors in a series. What if you have less than 48", but delete one door, and just leave a 3'-0" opening, but you still provide all of the necessary maneuvering clearances per A117.1-2009 - 404.2.3.2 around the non-deleted door. Basically you have a door opening into a small vestibule, then an a 3'-0" by 7'-0" opening.

This is for a commercial toilet that has two doors, both opening in toward the toilet room, both with closers and latches, however they are too close together, so the idea would be to remove the interior door. Not the best for sight lines, but its a minimal fix that doesn't require a remodel.
 
As long as you can meet the clearances on both sides of the remaining door, you should be okay.
