This is a condo remodel that called for an electrical rough (that failed) and I happened to notice this for the shower area and pocket door. This is the first floor that is a slab on grade.

What violations do you see?

  1. Non-pressure-treated wood directly on slab.
  2. Non-fire-retardant-treated wood for pocket door framing.
There may be others...

As others have noted, wood framing (this is not blocking) in a presumably type I or II building (high rise); and non-PT in contact with SOG.

Patch is half placed? How is the shower pan being constructed? Is the vent for the drain located off screen? Pipe wrapped in sill seal or similar for expansion?

Looks like a hot mess

Interesting tweak on the PT.....Is a slab on the required vapor barrier "in direct contact with earth"?

2304.12.1.4 Sleepers and sills. Sleepers and sills on a concrete or masonry slab that is in direct contact with earth shall be of naturally durable or preservative treated
wood.

The IRC will permit it how come the IBC does not
Sills and sleepers on a concrete or masonry slab that is in direct contact with the ground unless separated from such slab by an impervious moisture barrier.

"This is the first floor that is a slab on grade" Are those ducts coming from below?
