Wood Nailing Strips on Metallic Seismic Curbs

    What does the code state concerning the limited amount of combustibles on a seismic curb for HVAC units installed on a type II B Building?

    What says ye guru's of building code knowledge?

    Such a small amount. Not much different than "blocking" for windows and door frame installation

    14. Blocking such as for handrails, millwork, cabinets and window and door frames.

    What is thickness of blocking?
    Length of nails/screws?
    Specie of wood?
    Seismic connection?
    Weight of equip. attached to it?
    Provided by curb manuf.?

    1x , attached to edge of curbing to facilitate the termination strips for roofing/ flashing.

    State Agency indicating that the code does not reflect the allowable use of combustible material in this instance.

    OK, so these are nailers for the cant strips, not horizontals sitting on top of the curbs?

    on the blocking.

    I'm with MT on blocking.....technically there is no limit in Ch. 6......All the time for curbs and parapets...
