Fire Rated Assembly - 1 HR wall to beam

I recently ran across a fire rating handbook (USG perhaps) that describe some fire rating offsets and methodology to handle them..... Sorry, I was looking for something else and ran across it..... but don't remember the source other than it was a prominent source. https://systems.stifirestop.com/#

    Exit Passageway

Timeout - Corridors (1020) are handled a lot differently than EXIT PASSAGEWAY (1026) . The best way to describe what is required for an exit passageway is to consider the exit passageway as a horizontal stair shaft. Just like a stair shaft, provisions for access to go into the stairway(exit...

Accessible Elevator -What floors to be provided on?

If it is provided, then it should serve all floors IMHO otherwise, you are creating a sense of discrimination by not allowing ALL people free access to all floors - plus I am sure the renters would be more reluctant to rent a space on a floor without ease of elevator for material movement

What are permanent provisions for cooking?

Even a stove is not permanent, whenever a remodel occurs, chances are the "appliance" is replaced - so in theory (at least) all appliances are temporary as built in range tops, built in wall ovens etc. are deigned to be removed if necessary for replacement. The only thing that will remain is the...

What are permanent provisions for cooking?

what if the moon fell from the sky - You cannot make a person buy a stove, but I can make permanent provisions for 220 volt power outlet with adequate space to be provided in the layout (Cooking facilities taken care of), If you CO a house without furniture you are assuming that permanent...

    Hey Walgreens Wake Up

Sleepy, the codes change all the time, in 2003 ICC ANSI and the 2003 building code- All plumbing fixtures (at least one of every type) was required to be accessible. Therefore, a code wise person can potentially tell when an upfit was performed if it is unknown.

    Re-enter the Building for Egress?

Not a good design at all............ you know the second stairway is going to be locked. Also, IMHO I don't think it would be code complaint as the refrigeration/machinery room is protected by a fire sprinkler. Intent of the code is once a level of protection is provided, The level of fire...

Is it a building or not?

What is the principal intent of the structure - besides if used for shelter in a thunderstorm, it may prove to be more unsafe than the shelter they seek. I am all for ADA - however, one cannot what if a project because if then, we would have to design the structure for future use as a movie...

    ADA and Fire Alarm

CDA - not seeing any exceptions for a singular notification device in NFPA 72 - the code addresses notification of occupants, emergency responders, etc. Sounds like a hard nose approach to ADA and I can see potential for issues if using a limited notification device for occupant notification...

Calculating opening protection on modulated walls

Not necessarily as an opening - however, you do need to meet the requirements of chapter 14 and I believe that FSD is referenced by that as well for what construction type /materials/protection that are allowed.

Maximum office space cubicle partition height?

5' 9" is the height that a permit is required..... I am sure that seismic, HVAC, MOE, etc are still concerns with this.

Maximum office space cubicle partition height?

Look at portable office cubicles, I believe they by their listing have an limitation on height that may have carried over into code land.
