    RFS Adoption

To declare that $25.00 is basically an insignificant sum is either ignorance or arrogance--probably more than your share of both. Obviously some folks are out of touch with lending institutions policies and the housing market meltdown that we are currently in. Locally, we are currently...

cities to consider also requiring remodeled homes to be retrofitted with fire sprinkl

I would say most--as in vast majority--are rejecting RFS's. Quick, in 30 days or less, name all jurisdictions that have adopted the 2009 IRC and are for the FIRST TIME now requiring RFS. Supporters of RFS are losing and losing big time from coast to coast and the best they can do is blame it on...

cities to consider also requiring remodeled homes to be retrofitted with fire sprinkl

Wow big surprise. Now that they have sprinklers required in new homes they are trying to push them into remodel/rehab projects. NAHB and responsible code officials saw this from the beginning of the whole RFS fight.

    Header For Garage Man Door

Worst case about a 10 minute fix. The 2 x 10 is probably plenty of header above that size of door.

    See Ya In COURT !!!

Forensics, Where in my previous posts in this thread do you detect "anger issues"? I understand that you are upset that lawmakers in state after state are responding to public outcry in regard to overreaching government sprinkler mandates but please do not project your inability to cope with...

Oh have some fun. Classify it as S. Water storage structure.

    See Ya In COURT !!!

A professional designer is supposed to complete a desisn that meets MINIMUM code requirements unless instructed by his client to exceed the MINIMUM requirements. To do otherwise is doing nothing more than increasing the cost of the project and the funding for the PD's 401(k).

    See Ya In COURT !!!

All you engineers and architects better start paying more attention to stair geometry. After all 7/11 is recognized as a safer standard than 7 3/4 x 10. Think I'll go find me an ambulance chaser and a "dangerous" stairway or two. Early retirement here I come!! Not.

Hawaii Fire chiefs want sprinklers in all new single-family homes

Sorry beach but I am not interested in the Charlie Sheen mess and the media from the land-of-the-out-of-touch(California) covering it in disgusting detail. I am guessing you do not like my reference to winning, which is typical for many once they in fact lose. But if you were trying to make a...

Hawaii Fire chiefs want sprinklers in all new single-family homes

Forensics you are truly pathetic. First of all I am not a contractor of any type. I am the building official for my community and proud of the fact that I played a significant role in getting the sprinkler requirements amended out of the State building code. Working with contractors and...

    See Ya In COURT !!!

See Ya in court. Laughable at best. Obviously the author resides behind a desk and is out of touch with the real world. You only have to research how many communities have amended the stair geometry from 7 3/4r x 10 td to realize NOBODY will be sued over NOT requiring installation of residential...

what is with the short timeout

I was not having the time out problem when this thread first came up but......now I am and it is frustrating. As with others, no other site I visis does this so I am assuming it is a problem with this site but I am not a computer geek.

Hawaii Fire chiefs want sprinklers in all new single-family homes

Forensics, So sad to see you grasping at straws. But I guess that is what happens when state after state sees through the over-reaching mandate you and others of your ilk tried to force upon the public. I'm guessing you have bought new "toys" but have failed to provide for the safety of your...

Fire Marshals, Builders At Odds Over Bill To Require Sprinklers In New Homes

Anyone who believes that $1.61, a fictitous amount provided by the sprinkler industry, is accurate is either a fool, idiot or moron. Take your pick. A straight forward easy installation in our area is coming in at a minimum of $3.25 per square foot. It was actually a good thing that the...

Ya. we don't need no stinking commie fire sprinklers....

Of all the upgrades that a builder/developer could offer, sprinklers would be the last one I would want. They are of absolutely zero value and do nothing to add value to my home functionally or asthetically. If sprinklers were actually as important as some preach, insurance companies would cut...

Hawaii Fire chiefs want sprinklers in all new single-family homes

And what's your point? As far as I am concerned union is union regardless of trade. They get no slack from me if they use union BS to NOT do their job.

Lets see...radon, lead base paint, asbestos, residential sprinklers, stormwater runoff, OSHA and whatever else some bureaucrat can come up with to regulate. Wages are not keeping up with the cost of compliance for all this BS.

Ya. we don't need no stinking commie fire sprinklers....

Unbelievable. Some actually would use this horrific incident to promote residential sprinklers!! If sprinklers would have been required for the last 50 years the results in this case would have been exactly the same. The cause of the fire--secondary heat source--is responsible for more fires and...

Congrats to NAHB and everyone else responsible for overturning the ridiculous sprinkler requirements!!!! Great to see special interest groups and profiteering companies sent packing by the PA House. Hopefully the PA Senate has as much wisdom and foresight as the PA House. That leaves California...

Hawaii Fire chiefs want sprinklers in all new single-family homes

What would make anyone think that a lazy, clock-watching union worker is better than a non-union worker. Union workers spend more time trying to figure out how not to work than actually accomplishing anything of value.

Hawaii Fire chiefs want sprinklers in all new single-family homes

It would be interesting to know how many sprinkler advocates have installed sprinklers in their existing homes or the existing homes that their grandkids live in. It may be existing but still far less cost to install than a new car, hot tub or boat. And no BS about sprinklers not being required...

    House of worship & ADA

Examiner, Churches are not exempt from the building code, they are exempt from ADA regs unless of course they open their doors to events that are not church related. Gene Boecker, No it is a money thing. They often elect to provide ADA accomodations so they can get the elderly--and their...

    Arizona State Gun

Taurus "Judge". 3" barrel and 3" cylinder. First two chambers .410 3"mag with 00 buck, next three chambers 45 long colt. I would recommend not running in a straight line when retreating.

    House of worship & ADA

Does not apply to churches but most will go out of their way to get those old disabled folks through the front door. Its a money thing.

Heres wishing the contractors, developers and responsible inspectors good luck in eliminating the sprinkler requirements in PA.
