UL Fire Resistance Listing - (N) Metal Stud to Existing Wood Roof Frame

Thank you steveray, Thank you Ron; yes, this is about the joint conditions and not so much about the assembly. Thank you both for the references. Ron, yes this is a static condition where the gaps are less than 2"; single story, no live loads on the roof...BTW, i'm enjoying your book!

UL Fire Resistance Listing - (N) Metal Stud to Existing Wood Roof Frame

Does anyone know if there is a UL Rating for when a new 1-hr mtl. stud partition/wall, meets an existing wood frame roof structure? (type V-B) if so, would you mind pointing to where i can find it? i've searched the UL wizard and didn't see anything there. not even sure such a thing exists...

thanks again for your comments; - this is an existing 3 level building, type IIB, fully sprinklered - automatically. - the stair is existing. the fire-shutter is planned to be used to seal-up the stair egress path, which is planned to be used for L2, L3 partial egress per 1023.3.1.

Thanks cda - that sounds like it could be a viable, if creative, solution... i'm familiar with wondoor i've used them once or twice in the past. there's another mfg called McKeon - http://www.mckeondoor.com ..have you, or anyone else here, ever used them before?

cda, yes, the floor total area for that level is about 31k of Business occupancy, with only 2 'A' areas (large conf room and dining room). it's a TI for a tech company. they like large open office space, little to no suspended ceilings, exposed MEP systems, etc. think 'high tech'...

thanks for the replies! - all 3 levels are classified as group-b occ. - largest floor plate area weighs-in about 35k. - building is using an fully-auto sprink system - only 1, maybe 2 legit A2 occupancy - single tenant entire building. - building height comes in about 48' from grade.

Hello All, I'm proposing to have an entire floor of open office (group b) occupancy, with a somewhat small portion of dining assembly (group A2 of 200 occupants) with 2 exits directly onto accessible public egress. the building is fully sprinklered (automatically) - do you think i should prepare...

    exit access stairways

thanks mtlogcabin, much appreciated. i think my design meets the sections you call-out for 'egress-stair 1'. for 'egress-stair 2', my plan is to have a portion of the L1 occupants use the same 'exit lobby' that the L2, L3 occupants are using, which leads to an direct exit. stair 2 is also 1hr...
