If ducts run through a required 1 hr rated wall between a H-4 and a B, are they required to have fire dampers at the point of penetration? Or is protection of the annular space around the duct code compliant?

Re: 1 hr rated wall

Section 716.5.2 Exception 3 for fully ducted systems is for other than Group H. Fire damper is required.

Re: 1 hr rated wall

Section 716.5.2 [ in the `06 IBC ] exempts fire dampers if either of the first two

exceptions apply. The third exception ' WOULD ' require a fire damper in

your scenario.
