A co-worker of mine gave me one of these today as a gift.

According to a 1948 Popular Science Article I found online;

"The Signalite Fuse tells you when it blows out by lighting a tiny neon glow lamp in the center of its handle. Turning its handle puts a new fuse element into operation, each fuse containing six elements. It is made by the Signalite Fuse Co., of Bloomfield, N.J."
