Hello,
I am currently working on a construction Type 5B project, and due to the sprinkler requirement, I proposed to reduce the fire area by installing a 2-hour rated fire barrier. The reviewer has accepted this approach, but I now need assistance in resolving additional comments promptly. Please see the reviewer's comments below:
For your reference, I have selected “UL U301” for the barrier design.
Your expertise in clarifying these points would be greatly appreciated.

The reviewer has accepted this approach, but I now need assistance in resolving additional comments promptly. Please see the reviewer's comments below:
- Please clarify whether the existing wall between the prep area and the dining area will be removed before constructing the new fire barrier wall.
- If not, please provide a construction cross-section for the new fire barrier wall as indicated on sheet A500.
- If yes, indicate this and verify the type of the existing wall (bracing wall, load-bearing wall, etc.).
- Please demonstrate the construction details of the new 2-hour fire barrier wall, including details at the top and bottom of the wall (showing vertical and horizontal continuity).
Also, clarify whether the new wall will be installed on the existing wall or if it will be constructed entirely new from scratch.
For your reference, I have selected “UL U301” for the barrier design.
