2003 IRC, Exceptions

These are some Amendmentrs, from an Oklahoma municipality (population 42,000 ) that has adopted the 2003 IRC.

Exceptions:

Section 401.1.2 Addition: Insert after first sentence: Any foundation approved by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) shall be accepted.

Section 403.1.6 Insert: Exception: Exterior walls may be shot down with a power actuated nail gun. The nails shall be a minimum of eight (8) inches from corners or joints and four (4) feet off-center, and shall be a minimum of three (3) inches in length with one and one-eighth (1 1/8)-inch washers.

No, he would have made them more strict; it's more like what the Home Builder's Association would pressure the city into.

Welcome to the forum.

Oklahoma is in the heart of "Tornado Alley"; and high winds are normal. They just dumb down the already weak building codes. Keeps unemployment numbers down.
