For those of you from Florida, I'm trying to get a jump start on the new 2010 Florida Building Code. I've found two documents which include changes to the 2009 Florida Supplement, but I'm not sure which one is the most recent and therefore the one that most likely is going to press next month. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I am sure Bryan will know, and I would also like Bryan to comment on FL adoption of the 2011 NEC.

Got a link to the 2 FBC docs?

NO... The link you provided is NOT the most recent update for the 2010 FBC. Those documents can be found here:

http://www.dca.state.fl.us/fbc/thecode/Materials_for_June2011_Hearing.htm

But this page still does not give the "FINAL" picture of what the 2010 FBC will look like and contain. Please stay tuned. On October 1st, the Florida Building Commission will be making the entire 2010 FBC available online for FREE. You will have two ways to access the 2010 FBC. One directly from the ICC website the other from BOAF. Here are the two links that will take you to the new code next month:

ICC site: http://www2.iccsafe.org/states/florida_codes/

BOAF site: http://www.boaf.net/

As far as the 2011 NEC goes, it will NOT be adopted with the 2010 FBC... The commission plans to implement the 2011 NEC with the 2013 FBC. As always, I will keep you updated on any changes or news regarding this issue...

By the way, go to this website if you would like to see some of the most signifigant changes to the 2010 FBC & other valuable Florida information:

Just a word of advice.

The 2004 code was modified right at the end of the legislative session.

Until the legislature is done fooling around with it, don't get ahead of yourself.

NOT ANYMORE !!!!

SB 396 / HB 849, "THE BUILDING CODE BILL" eliminates this part of the process. The state legislature no longer has to ratify the FBC before it becomes effective.

The bill amends. 120.541(4), F.S., to exempt the adoption of federal standards, updates or modifications to the Building Code, and updates or modifications to the Fire Code from required legislative ratification. The adoption of these rules still would be subject to the preparation of a comprehensive SERC and economic analysis.
The 2010 FBC is done & WILL be effective March 15, 2012.

That's what we thought in 2004.
