Good gobble-de-goop,

I've found a bunch of stuff on problems with CSST fires, but still can't paste (my computer problem). We didn't have these problems before all this new-fangled crap started being used. I'm thinking it's caused by yankee ingenuity; and the only answer is for us to secede from the Union.

You will find stories about it and most if not all have been directly related to a lightning strike. There has not been a large number if incidences reported, I believe the statistics show that there has been no deaths related to the product. Installation error has also played a big factor in the failures.

I have installed it, ran service calls on it, and I do training seminars on it. But my personal preference on rather i would like to run steel or CSST, I would prefer to run steel.

250.62 Grounding Electrode Conductor Material. The grounding electrode conductor shall be of copper, aluminum, or copper-clad aluminum. The material selected shall be resistant to any corrosive condition existing at the installation or shall be protected against corrosion. The conductor shall be solid or stranded, insulated, covered, or bare.

You will not find CSST bonding rquirements in the NEC since the submission was rejected since there was no supportive evidence supplied to show that it provided any protection. I have read some studies of a limited nature that suggest it may provide some protection if there is a lightning strike originating outside the structure and may increase the hazzard if the strike is at the structure.
