New to the Forums and curious to know how folks are calculating fixtures in a R-2 dormitory with the UPC fixture table 422.1. As shown in the image link the language notes both "1 per 10 males" as well as "add 1 fixture for each additional 25 males ... " Whereas other fixture designations use "1:1-15, 2: 16-35 ... and then list "over xxx add 1 fixture for xxx additional persons"

2018 UPC image link

So for a dorm with 56 males and 56 females .... how would you apply the calculation?

56 males @ 1 per 10 = 5.6 = 6 toilets or 1 toilet + [ ((56-10) /25) =1.84 ] = 2.84 or 3 toilets?
Other fun math ideas or UPC commentary for solutions?

The State of Nebraska has deleted chapter 29 of the 2018 IBC per it's amendments and references the 2018 UPC

Thanks all!

56 males = 3 toilets.
It should be understood as 1 toilet for the first 1-10 males; and thereafter 1 additional toilet for each/every additional cohort of 25 males (or fraction of 25).

4 for the females though right?

My 2019 CA plumbing code is based off the 2018 UPC, but it could be amended. Mine says 1 per 8 plus one more per 20 (or fraction of) for females.

Thanks Yikes! Hopefully the 2024 UPC will pick up the change for matching the rest of the section with 1:1-10 M 1:1-8 F and 1 per 25 M / 1 per 20 F additional
