A UL assembly allows a 2x4 - swap out a recessed can?

If a particular UL listing accommodates a 2x4 fixture in a ceiling/floor assembly, is there any method for using a recessed can instead? Or does the UL listing have to specifically outline provisions for a recessed can?

If so, that seems odd to me.

Does U.L. or another fire rated and approved assembly
have any assemblies for recessed can lights ?.......Do
you have a fire rated recessed can light in mind, or that
you could discuss with the BO as a substitute ?

As I understand the testing process at U.L., specific
assemblies are tested with specific components.

Listing should be specific.....Although it does seem reasonable to have a much smaller hole.....Housing materials could be significantly different or amount of holes in the fixture. Although an IC can should be tight...
