2006 IBC, client wants 20 units, he plans to include 1 accessible unit. I believe the code requires each of the other units to be Type "B" (adaptable) units. As I understand, the "B" units only need to have blocking in areas where handicapped bars might need to be added and adequate clearances for wheelchair maneuverability elsewhere. In a dwelling, does this include the 12" wall width beside the latch on the push side of a door and 18" wall width beside the latch on the pull side of a door as is necessary in a public building?
