Does an accessible egress door have to swing out? This particular door serves an occupant load less than 50. How do you handle exit hardware if it opens in?

Automatic opener??

Trying to open it inward manually, seem like it would be a problem.

Maybe for clearance needs to swing out?

You cannot use a panic device on an in-swinging door.

Doors are required to swing in the direction of egress travel when the occupant load is 50 or more (except Group H, which requires them regardless of the occupant load). Panic hardware is only required when the occupant load is 50 or more in Group A and Group E occupancies, in Group H occupancies, and in electrical rooms with 1200A or more rated equipment (which would also require out-swinging doors by default).

The hardware would need to be an approved accessible type, e.g. lever, and the proper clearances required at the strike side to allow operation by the disable public. RLGA addressed the direction of door swing.

To clarify RLGA's comment, personnel doors shall have panic hardware if electrical equipment is rated 800A or more and contains OCP's, switching devices or control devices and the door is intended for entry and egress from the nearest edge of the working space is less than 25 ft. the door shall open in the direction of egress and have panic hardware.

No rule on which way accessible doors swing. Hardware would not be any different then interior doors. If no latch with door closer hardware is not needed on push side
