Does anyone have set accomodations for the general public that comes into your office for everyday business???

I am not talking about building features.

Say a blind contractor, or insert arch e tect, inspector, general public, ( I hear the jokes already ) comes in and wants a copy of the code section, do you have it in braille or have access to it??

Or similar accommodations for other ADA disabilites????? in your everyday dealings????

how does your front desk staff handle situations???

Never really thought about it... I've only had two incidents (since in the profession 1984) with citizens that were not wheelchair bound. One was a deaf person which wrote a note for me and asked that I look at him when I spoke so he could read my lips. He wrote questions and I answered verbally... well I guess it would be lipally.

Another was a blind person that asked questions and we answered.

Typically we would accomodate them by providing paper copy of the section and reading it to them.

I am not aware of the I-Codes being available in Braille given the limitations on number of characters per page nor in books on tape.

Most visually impaired with a need have their own devices that can magnify print or a scanner that translates text to speech. My stepmother used both that were provided through assistance grants for the visually impaired.

You can verbally convey the code.

You are not required to provide a Braille copy of it

Just as you are not required to provide a paper copy
