I am putting an addition on a building that has a exit door on the side I am putting the addition on. I am trying to keep the door in the same location and create a corridor for the exit. there is a 2' grade elevation difference between the existing building and the new building. Can I have a corridor with stairs? Or do I need to keep it all on the same plane and raise the grade outside?

You can, but if it is a required means of egress, then it must also comply with the requirements for accessible means of egress which does not allow steps that connect levels in the same story in an accessible means of egress (IBC Section 1009.3.1).

I'm not sure what difference if it's the plan north side of the building are not. What makes the difference is if it's a Req method of egress.
I was trying to identify the door, since it’s not marked. RLGA noted that there can’t be steps, so inwas asking if there is enough distance for a compliant ramp.

Thank you for your help. I will have to move the steps to be used from the C-store side as an access not an egress.
