All newly installed. Except the electrical panel

I have never given any thought to the tank drain....until I saw this picture. There's no way to thread a hose to that without ruining the Smitty pan. Teflon tape would be a good addition to the fittings. We insulate both hot and cold pipes from the heater to the ceiling.

Do you Floridians strap the tanks? I get a kick out of the pan with no drain. The T&P will be a problem. The panel door still opens 90°.;)
