I have an alteration project that needs to add louver openings on existing building for new PTAC's in some dwelling units. As per code, if the mechanical penetration area (PTAC Louver) is more than 1% of opaque above grade wall, it needs to be entered as a separate wall component with U-0.5 in Comcheck, but when I enter louver area in Comcheck as 'other' exterior wall component with U-0.5, the analysis immediately shows failed as the maximum u-factor allowance for steel framed wall is U-0.061 and there's no trade-off for 'Alteration' project in Comcheck. How should I enter PTAC louver area in Comcheck? Is it possible to include it with the adjacent insulated wall area although it's over 1% of opaque above grade wall?
