Need a little help. I have a proposed project that will be storing about 10,000 tons of ammonium nitrate prills and ammonium nitrate solution. The first one (prills) is NH4NO3. The second is NH4NO3 + H2O.

Questions: Using the NFPA fire codes what classification oxidizer do I have?

Additional Information: DOT hazard class is Oxidizer 5.1.

UN Idendification number is 1942 and 2426 respectively.

JP,

See Chapter 4 and 11 of NFPA 400. (as referenced by NFPA codes)

Since your dealing with a Class 5.1 oxidizer and the UN Numbers are UN1942, (prills) and UN2426 (liquid).

Also NFPA 1 [65.10] that takes you to above! (since it's not in Annex B]

Oh man I hear you brother! Have a cow calf tag for Tensleep. Didn't get the type 1 tag I was hoping for but it's all good. Been sticking my nose in the air and curling my lip for the past week!
