2013 CBC. Trying to determine the access aisle width requirement for an accessible stall. This is for an end opening out swinging compartment. The approach is: Latch approach, pull side. Per 11B-404.2.4.1 (h) I have been going with a 60" width. This is in an existing high rise that we are looking to bring up to code. We are bound by shafts and structure and elevators so we just cannot get the 60" width. I have between 50" and 53" depending on the location. There seems to be an exception for the ambulatory stall to allow a 44" access aisle. 11B-604.8.2. If the door were in swinging and my approach was from the push side the requirement is only 48" per 11B-604.8.1.2
I believe I am interpreting these sections correctly. Is this a candidate for being technically infeasible or some other method or exception? :banghd
