The affordability mandate has killed a lot of multi-family projects in my area. I live in an area where the cost of living is absurd. I've worked on three pretty large projects in the past few years, all of which died due to "the developer not being able to get their money back for decades" as one person put it. Which makes sense, at least from where I sit. When rent costs a metaphorical kidney every few months, not being able to rent at those prices makes developers nauseous.
