SATURDAY, AUGUST 20, 2011 CALIFORNIA RESIDENTIAL CODE

Using Code Check Building 3rd edition (included with registration)

This class is essential for contractors, inspectors, architects, home inspectors, fire prevention officers, plans examiners, and anyone planning a building project. The class includes a copy of Code Check Building 3rd edition, the latest release in the Code Check series. Like the new California Residential Code, the book is based upon the 2009 edition of the IRC. This class explains the limitations of the new residential code and why some projects require both the residential code and building code. Other topics include fire-resistant construction, fire protection, habitability, glazing, decks, stairs, guardrails, foundations, drainage, floor framing, wall framing, seismic bracing, roof construction and coverings, interior and exterior wall coverings, and much more. The seminar includes issues that coordinate with California’s energy code and green building code. Practical examples are used for

all topics to show how the new codes apply to real-world situations.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2011 THE 2008 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE

Using Code Check Electrical 6th edition (included with registration)

The 2008 National Electrical Code is now in effect in California, with expanded requirements for AFCIs, GFCIs, tamper-resistant receptacles, and numerous changes in wiring methods and equipment. This class includes those changes and rules for services, grounding, bonding, load calculations, panels, multiwire circuits, boxes, branch circuits, receptacles, bathrooms, kitchens, switches, lighting, appliances, ampacity, cable systems, raceways, photovoltaics, swimming pools and spas, generators, and special problems posed by older wiring. This class is appropriate for building inspectors, electricians, home inspectors, general contractors, remodelers, and designers. As with all Code Check presentations, it uses real-world examples and the instructive illustrations of Paddy Morrissey, the designer of Code Check.
