Best on-line news?

I have noticed here and on other forums I frequent that some of you folks are getting national and world news before it breaks here. (Probably because the local news outlets here are more concerned with celebrity twitter feeds :banghd)

Anybody have a free service that they would recommend?

I just have a few bookmarked and just check them periodically

Also, a few local radio and tv stations send "breaking news" to my phone. That seems to be the fastest
