Italy is always fun to watch, but I will be routing for Espana!

I think the Spanish side suffers from the same problem as Germany:

Who are they going to play?

Although there are a number of Barca players I like,

I enjoy seeing Lalas whine about Ballotelli much more.

I think Roja's bench could have beaten Azzurri's starters. Chelsea starters Torres and Mata looked like they were ready to go. If Italy only had a goal for every time they were scored on when they had someone out of position complaining about an offsides penalty, it might have been a match.

I think Roja's bench could have beaten Azzurri's starters. Chelsea starters Torres and Mata looked like they were ready to go. If Italy only had a goal for every time they were scored on when they had someone out of position complaining about an offsides penalty, it might have been a match.

Four at the back was a mistake. Italy was better off in the first gamewith three Center backs and two wingbacks than a traditional flat four...Jordi Alba's goal was evidence of that. A wing back would have been marking his run from midfield.

I'm not really all that warm to the idea of a single European government with Germany in charge. That idea just hasn't worked out very well in the past.

Italy's defensive scheme was a road map for exactly what not to do against Spain, and when they finally opened up they were beaten mentally. I am excited to see how Spain does against some non-european teams, namely mexico.

They may see them at the Confederations Cup next summer. They may see Italy again, too. Spain was already qualified as World Cup winner, so Italy will be the UEFA representative.
