Breezeway Between Buildings and Fire Separation Distance

Hi all,

We're designing a 5,400 s.f. VB office building. The client wants a breezeway connecting this building to an existing office building. The two buildings will be 60 feet apart. The breezeway will just be a steel frame and a galvalume roof over a concrete walk. It won't share a roofline with either building roof. I'm surprised I can't find any guidance on how to handle this, since it doesn't seem that uncommon. Assuming we make no changes to the existing building (also VB), do we design the wall of our building at the breezeway to have a 1-hour fire resistance rating from the exterior and design our openings accordingly? Is that necessary?
