Come get a quick primer on CALGreen and how it changes Title 24 for site, water, IAQ, energy, and materials. Effective January 1, 2011, CALGreen became the first State Mandatory Green Building Code adopted in the country. This affects all those involved in the design, construction, planning and operations of all building types in California. Because buildings in California account for one-quarter of the state’s greenhouse gas emissions, CALGreen will take huge strides toward the state's greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals. The California Air Resources Board estimates that by 2020 CALGreen will prevent the release of 3 million metric tons of CO2, reduce water use by 20% and divert at least 50% of construction waste to landfills. Join us to learn the key components of CALGreen and those that are in synergy with LEED, strategies for achieving both CALGreen and LEEd compliance, and network with fellow professionals.
Become a USGBC - Northern California Chapter Member today and gain instant savings on our workshops and events with one low annual fee.

Understand the key components of CALGreen, including the five critical areas of sustainability in site, water, energy, IAQ, and materials, what building occupancies the new code applies to, and the mandatory versus voluntary measures.
Identify which components of CALGreen are in synergy with the LEED rating system.
Develop strategies to ensure a LEED certified project is also CALGreen compliant.
Know the position that USGBC-NCC takes on the CALGreen building code and what their recommendations are on using the LEED rating system as an alternate path for compliance with the CALGreen voluntary tiers.
