California Green Building - Santa Barbara, CA
Location Casa Las Palmas: 323 East Cabrillo Blvd. Santa Barbara, California
This class will introduce participants to the 2010 California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen) from the Building Department perspective.CALGreen is Part 11 of CCR Title 24 and became effective on January 1, 2011. The class will briefly describe the development of CALGreen and the transition made from the voluntary 2008 CGBSC. The course will review the mandatory green building requirements of CALGreen for both residential and non-residential occupancies and explain how CALGreen is designed to interact with the other Parts of CCR Title 24, in particular Part 6 (California Energy Code). This course will help building department personnel explore the voluntary green building “stretch” measures available for projects to achieve CALGreen Tier 1 and Tier 2 status and examine options and resources available for AHJ’s to successfully adopt, implement and enforce CALGreen. Students will be provided an understanding of the process for enacting local amendments to CALGreen to suit local conditions This course will explain the evolving relationship between CALGreen and 3rd Party Green Building rating systems (e.g. LEED, Build it Green-Green Point Rated, California Green Builder, etc.). Finally, this course will discuss the effects and consequences of CALGreen on existing local Green Building Ordinances.
Special Requirements Certificates are provided to those who stay for entire course, no exceptions. Cancellations made at least one week prior to the seminar will be assessed a 25% processing fee. No refunds for cancellations will be given after this time – no-shows are still responsible for their registration fees. Registration may be transferred to another individual.
