Hi,I'm new here ,so I don't know if I'm on the right thread.
I am a glass artist and I'm trying to solder onto cast iron.
I use copper foil around the edges and tin it(a small amount of 60/40 lead and tin solder.
It won't solder to the cast iron.
Are there any tips you could give me .
Many thanks

It's going to be very difficult if not impossible to solder to cast-iron. It's even difficult to weld, for welding you have to preheat it so you might try that for soldering but other than that I can't come up with many suggestions. Could you epoxy that the foil to the cast-iron?

If you Google soldering to cast iron, there are some suggestions. Silver solder seems to be a common one.

The focus of this forum is building codes. Not real close to stained glass, but glad you stopped by.
