Hello-
Working on a new construction A-3 occupancy that will have an indoor pool as part of it's program. Would like to include a storage room for chemicals which include AquaChlor (Bleach, Sodium Hypochlorite) and Hydrochloric Acid. I figure we'll have to separate that storage room from the A-3 occupancy, but wondering which hazard occupancy those chemicals would fall under...H-1 through H-5. I think we'll have to separate the room from other spaces with a 2 or 3-hour rating, just wondering which.

Thanks!

Hopefully your quantities are low enough that you will not have to classify the storage area as an H-occupancy. See IBC Table 307.1 for the maximum allowable quantity per control area.

IBC Section 414 also needs to be reviewed.

Welcome

A-3

If they keep the quantities under the allowable MAQ

Which they should be able to do....

Plus some users are getting away from some of the past used chemicals,,,

So you might ask

Might even be saltwater????
