Citizens say city officials flaunting state, federal laws

Lake Powell Chronicle Citizens say city officials flaunting state, federal laws

City Manager Rick Olson downplayed claims by two Page citizens that he and the city are violating laws governing his office and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Local business owner Arleen Miller called for Olson’s resignation at a recent city council meeting, arguing he failed to take the oath of office when he was hired.

Meanwhile, Page citizen Ray Finley, of the Northern Arizona Advocacy for Handicapped Persons, said the city has refused to enforce ADA compliance for both private businesses and city facilities

It will certainly be interested to see how this plays out. There are many cities across the nation who ignore enforcing compliance with ADA.

Which is why I posted it

I suppose this is worth repeating; as I have stated it many times before; "ADA is a civil law; and not enforceable by municipalities unless they have specifically adopt the ADA STANDARDS (not the guidelines)." Now, municipal compliance with ADA requirements; such as sidewalks and other public ADA requirements; is a horse of a different color. Thanks Mark H. this may become an interesting as well as educational thread for all of us. Uncle Bob

APPARENTLY the city is searching for a new city manager.
